Last Saturday evening, Gallery Hijinks hosted San Francisco-based artist Pakayla Biehn’s solo show, (t)here. Preview: Pakayla Rae Biehn – “Being There” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Showing alongside Jeff Ramirez (interviewed) for their two person exhibition, Being There (teased), Pakayla Rae Biehn is finally afforded the opportunity to let her talents shine through with a large body of work, after many inclusions in various group shows over the years. Opening Saturday, May 21st at Thinkspace Gallery, the SF-based artist will further develop her unique Double Exposure series of paintings, where two compositional themes are overlayed into a unified whole, certain elements clearly defined others muted in color and blurred in resolution. After seeing Pakayla Rae Biehn in several group shows, it’s nice to see her finally present a larger body of work. Being There opens May 21st at the Thinkspace Gallery and will showcase the San Francisco-based artist’s ethereal works, often painted to give the feeling dream-like double exposed photos. Openings: “The New Realism” @ Thinkspace Art Gallery

Last Saturday night, the Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City opened a new show featuring some of their young artists, particularly those whose work involved elements of photo-realism. For “The New Realism”, Aaron Nagel, Jeff Ramirez, Jennifer Nehrbass, Linnea Strid, Nathan DeYoung and Pakayla Rae Biehn each put forth their vision of the human form but with their unique twists. Thinkspace Gallery will be opening a new group exhibition this Saturday night, December 11th, highlighting some of their artists whose work utilize elements of  photorealism. “New Realism” will include pieces from Aaron Nagel, Jeff Ramirez, Jennifer Nehrbass, Linnea Strid, Nathan DeYoung and Pakayla Rae Biehn.
