Patrick Martinez for Playboy

Los Angeles-based artist Patrick Martinez was recently asked to work on a project for Playboy’s App. Taking his signature neon work and his urban aesthetic, he built four sets for Miss May 2010 Playmate Kassie Logsdon to interact with. Take a look at some stills and the video below, shot by photographer Jared Ryder, as the creative process was throughly explained by Martinez and footage from the shoot is revealed. Currently on view at Circuit 12 Contemporary in Dallas is a show featuring work by Patrick Martinez, Aaron De La Cruz, and James Roper. The exhibition highlights each artist’s diverse approach to their craft by featuring pieces in a wide range of mediums, including paintings, sculpture, neon and site specific installations. Last weekend, Patrick Martinez opened his solo show Lovely Day at the Known Gallery in the heart of LA. Continuing to display a creative versatility, the locally-based artist put a selection of pieces on the walls ranging from sculptural neon works, mixed media works, paintings, as well as a set of vending machines with custom made items. On Tuesday night, Los Angeles showgoers got their midweek art fix at Stephen Webster when the City of Fire exhibition was unveiled.
