AM recently attended the annual RxArt benefit gala. The non-profit organization dedicated to placing original fine art (see Jeff Koons) in patient and examination rooms of hospitals have long garnered the staunch support from some other big names in art such as Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, Yoshitomo Nara, Marilyn Minter and Ed Ruscha. Jeff Koons and RxArt has teamed up to make the hospital a less intimidating space for young patients, hopefully helping to soothe fears and brighten moods. The world-renowned pop artist has transformed the usually sterile CT scan room with his familiar icons – including the Balloon Dog, Hanging Heart, and Monkeys.
