Streets: Mobstr (London)

It looks like the ever witty Mobstr has been busy in and around London recently putting up some new pieces. The street artist hailing from Newcastle is known for verbiage-based pieces that poke fun at his art form as well as challenge the way we view public space. These photos, which come courtesy of Hooked Blog include a continuation in his Huh? series as well as other “lessons in advertising.” Discuss Mobstr here.

Update: JR x Jose Parla – “Wrinkles of the City” (Cuba) Part III

By now, you will have seen photos from the intriguing collaboration between JR (featured) and Jose Parla on the walls of Havana. Parla, with his Cuban roots, seems like the perfect partner in crime for the TED winning French artist as calligraphic stylings of the first meld seamlessly with the stark photos of the second. This next phase of JR’s Wrinkles Of The City project will coincide with the 11th Havana Biennial 2012 and feature photos from a previous trip to Cuba that the duo took back in […]

Streets: Conor Harrington (Ireland) Part II

Just like when he gifted his home county with a series of murals (here, here, & here) last summer, Conor Harrington (interviewed) appears to be hitting up multiple walls on this trip to Ireland as well. We already showed you a quick piece he whipped up outside of Lurgan, but now comes photos of something new – The Duel of Belfast, Dance By Candlelight. Keep it locked here on AM to see if any future walls will pop up. Discuss Conor Harrington here.

Update: JR x Jose Parla – “Wrinkles of the City” (Cuba) Part II

After bringing you a first glimpse of the next phase of the Wrinkles Of The City project from JR (featured) where he is collaborating with good friend and artist Jose Parla in Cuba, it looks like the two are in the thick of the action now. Working on walls throughout the city of Havana, the sublime mix of the French street photographer’s candid shots of the Cubanos along with Parla’s calligraphic messages has fans of the duo’s work buzzing. The street activity has been timed to […]

Streets: World Round (April 30 – May 6)

For our streets roundup this week, we’ll start with this interesting new piece in Detroit. The mural painted by SEVER was taken from the Instagram feed of SABER (interviewed) and looks to be a tribute piece to some of the greats in the street art scene like Barry McGee, Os Gemeos, Kaws, Futura, and Shepard Fairey. Other walls you should take notice of include pieces from Chris Stain (Baltimore), Kid Zoom & Reka (Australia), Tellas & Moneyless (Poland), Jon Burgerman (Canada), Phlegm (UK), Jaz (Baltimore), Otto […]

Art Focus: Eduardo Kobra

Brazilian street muralist Eduardo Kobra is the chosen artist for this week’s Art Focus. The Sao Paulo-born painter’s public art is sometimes politically motivated with messages on pollution, global warming, deforestation, war, and more although much of his work is nostalgic with the purpose to simply beautify the urban environment. He has also worked on projects with major corporations such as Coca Cola, Nestlé, Chevrolet, Ford, Roche, Johnnie Walker, just to name a few. More photos of his work after the jump…

Streets: Conor Harrington (Ireland)

Last we saw of Conor Harrington (interviewed), he was hitting London with an impressive new collection of paintings at Lazarides (covered) of which you can see the some of the photoshoot and photoreferences here by the way. While the successful showing was no doubt satisfying, it did not quench his thirst for outdoor work. On a recent trip back to his home country, he painted this new quickie mural outside of Lurgan, Ireland. Discuss Conor Harrington here.

Update: JR x Jose Parla – “Wrinkles of the City” (Cuba)

As we mentioned back in March along with set of photos from JR (featured) taken during a trip to Cuba, the French photograffeur was prepping for the next phase of his The Wrinkles Of The City project. It looks like that project has been started already as a collaboration with Jose Parla in Havana as evidenced by a glimpse of the action in the pic above. We’ll bring you more news soon but for now, enjoy more photos from Cuba after the jump…
