Basel Week Miami ’18 / Releases: KAWS – “The News” Print Portfolio @ Pace Prints

Like in recent years (2015, 2016), KAWS has planned a limited edition release through Pace Prints tomorrow (December 6th at 11 am EST) for Basel Week Miami. The portfolio of nine tondo prints (run of 100), entitled THE NEWS, featuring the Brooklyn-based artist’s pop culture infused abstractions, have a tiered pricing system with the cost going up as the edition sells out. Streets: Peeta (Italy)

Recently in Agropoli, Italy, Peeta completed a mind bending new mural for the a.DNA project that is a prime example of his style. Spanning four walls at the Liceo Statale A.Gatto public school, the piece from the Venice-based artist features lettering from his graffiti background as well as an anamorphic technique that deceives the eye. Currently showing in Detroit at Library Street Collective is a four person exhibition featuring contributions from Paul Kremer, Mark Flood, MOMO, and REVOK. Entitled Machine Show and curated by Kremer, the focus was on the unique art-making tools, processes, and methodology behind their work. At the end of September, the people behind POW! WOW! Hawaii held their event celebrating culture, music and art in a new country – South Korea. Upcoming: Faile – “Stages” @ Galerie Springmann

After a successful show in Detroit (covered), Faile (featured) has turned their attention to their next project. Entitled Stages, the new exhibition opening on December 2nd at Galerie Springmann in Berlin will feature some more painterly and graffiti-laced works as well as some of the Brooklyn-based duo’s puzzle-based works. Streets: Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada – “Connection” (Beirut)

Recently in Beirut, Lebanon, Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada (featured) completed a mural entitled Connection with support from BAD (Built by Associative Data). The wall now (commissioned by Beirut Digital District) features a young boy exploring an electric circuit board, touching on the need for innovation and education in building a better future for the country. Taking a full ten days for the Cuban-American artist to complete, the piece deftly navigates various architectural elements to spread across the structure. Discuss Jorge Rodriguez-Gerada here.
