At the Rockefeller Center in New York, Jeff Koons has just revealed a new 45 foot inflatable sculpture entitled Seated Ballerina. The American sculptor’s third piece to be displayed at the NYC landmark is intended to “conveys optimism and a sense of potential for the future” while bringing awareness to National Missing Children’s Month as well as the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC). Openings: “Flourish” @ Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum

Over the weekend, the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Arizona hosted the opening of Flourish, a group show curated by Thinkspace Gallery. Over 100 artists contributed to the exhibition but the standouts for us were the murals from Esao Andrews and Nosego as well as a sweet hanging installation from Felipe Pantone. Earlier this year, Brendan Monroe (interviewed) held a showcase in Japan at Curator’s Cube entitled Mammatus. The exhibition in Tokyo featured several of the American artist’s distinctive ceramic sculptures and some of his organic black and white patterned drawings, which were complemented nicely with a wall mural. Fashion: James Jean x Prada 2018 Resort Collection

Following up on his work with Prada in 2008 and other projects through the years, James Jean (interviewed) has collaborated with the Italian fashion house on part of their 2018 resort collection. Staged for the first time at the Fondazione Prada Osservatorio in Milan, the runway show featured the illustrator and visual artist’s imagery prominently on parkas, a pantsuit, dresses as well as many of the handbags.
