Included were artists Cody Hudson, Sticky Monster Lab, Hito Zuki and of course Suit himself. There seem to be something for everyone to get into from inflatable sculptures to rendered videos, photographs to custom figurines, and even an 80 […]

POW WOW ’12: Suitman

For this year’s POW WOW, we see the return of performance artist, Young Kim aka Suitman. The versatile man of many talents continued expanding his longstanding  suit-photography series which he also explored during last year’s Pow Wow. With all the portraits created from the attendees from the opening night a year ago, Suitman pasted up and hand-finished two site specific outdoor murals to be displayed in the neighborhood of Kaka’ako thus giving a “distinguished” face to the event’s name. Check out more after the jump.

The launch events took place over two nights and drew numerous notables from the fashion and art scene. A long time patron of the arts, Agnès has supported many of the artists we’ve all come to love and this inaugural […]

POW WOW ’11: Suitman

One of the highlights of our trip to Hawaii for POW WOW ’11 was spending some time with Young Kim. The performance artist, photographer, designer, creative director, and videographer has worked with many the major brands out there. His famous alterego – Suitman – is the physical representation of his cultural alienation and acceptance issues as he has lived and worked in many places since childhood. With a long line of people waiting to be photographed for one of his personal projects in the signature […]
