Openings: “Paper Party 2” @ Richard & Le Feuvre Gallery

Freshly opened Richard & Le Feuvre Gallery in Geneve, Switzerland, introduced their work to the local art lovers with an inaugural group show titled Paper Party 2. Combining works by eleven artists from five different countries, this large show featured about 50 original works on paper that will stay on view until the end of the year. For this exhibition, the gallery brought together artists that they consider as some of the more interesting that contemporary urban art can offer at the moment. Ranging in styles, the […]

Openings: Scott Campbell – “The Smartest Thing I Ever Did Were Foolish Things For Love” @ Galerie Gmurzynska

Scott Campbell’s second showing with Galerie Gmurzynska’s St. Moritz (Via Serias) location recently opened, giving his fans in Switzerland a chance to admire a diverse range of works. The Smartest Thing I Ever Did Were Foolish Things For Love is dedicated to the theme of love, no doubt inspired by his recent marriage. Paintings, sculptures, cut currency works, as well as “fuse paintings,” which are created by drawing with gunpowder and then ignited, fill the space with examples of the Brooklyn-based artist’s recent creative output and “love statements.” […]

Streets: Invader (Switzerland)

The winter months usually see a slowdown in street art activity as the cold forms a natural impediment to being outdoors in certain regions of the world. There are exceptions though as seen by Invader’s recent work in the small village of Anzère in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The French legend gifted the area with some of his classic characters and namesakes as well as taking the opportunity to take cues as he commonly does from video games (in this case the old school […]

We recently got a peek at the new body of work that Dave Kinsey has been working on for his upcoming solo show at The Trace Gallery in Zurich, Switzerland. After working with Absolut Vodka on their limited bottle design, having his art reproduced on the Californian Kenwood Vineyard label, and being named as one of the 100 most influential artists by Complex magazine, Kinsey is focused on his 2 shows for the year. This one, and a special pop-up solo show at FFDG in San Francisco on […]

Openings / Basel Week Switzerland ’13: Audrey Kawasaki & Esao Andrews @ SCOPE

With Basel Week Switzerland coming to an end, here is a look at the Thinkspace Gallery booth at the SCOPE art fair. The showing focused on the works Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) and Esao Andrews with both artists continuing to show progression in their aesthetic. Kawasaki’s new paintings this time were solely created on dark backgrounds, something that not commonly seen in high numbers in one body of work, which contrasted nicely with her choice of vibrant colors to complement her seductive muses. Andrews’ inclusion of the female form in several of […]

One of the satellite fairs during Basel Week Switzerland is the always quality SCOPE Art Fair. Although, this venue lacks the blue-chip luster of the main event (covered), we always find many familiar faces and intriguing works at this fair. Take a look at an overview of what was offered in the photos below… Photo credit: Andrew Hosner for Arrested Motion.

Openings: KAWS – “GISWIL” @ More Gallery

A couple weeks ago, we gave you a taste of what to expect for the KAWS solo at More Gallery opening during Basel Week Switzerland. Now, we have gathered some more detailed photos of the two massive wood companion sculptures as well as some of the tondos that were exhibited at the same time. We know it’s a trek to get out to the show even if you are in Basel at the moment, so if you can’t make it out before the August 26th close, just take a […]
