It looks like Mars-1 & Damon Soule recently collaborated with Smokovich Designs to create some limited edition jewelry for the fashion conscious art fans out there. Dubbed the Furtherrr Collection after the art collective the two Bay Area-based artists are part of, the line features pendants, necklaces, and earrings created based off their artwork and drawings. This Saturday, on the 10th January, Portland-based artist Yallena James takes her eco-centric artworks down the west coast to Oakland gallery LeQuiVive. Just in time for winter mini camp, James Marshall aka Dalek (interviewed) recently completed new murals at the North Ridge Basketball Academy. The locally based artist harnessed his signature gradiated geometric aesthetic to paint the walls high up in a gym that any hoops fan would love to play in, perfectly capturing the organization’s philosophy and ministry. We recently came across the work of Odeith and his mind-bending form of anamorphic graffiti that seems to leap out at you from certain vantage points. Long time AM friend Poesia launches 886 Geary Gallery this week with an exhibition by Filippo Minelli entitled Nothing To Say. As well as being the new space’s inaugural exhibition, this will be Italian interventionist’s first solo presentation in the United States. While walking through the Aqua Art Fair (covered) during Basel Week Miami, we were delighted to come across the work of Tom Fruin at the Paul Loya Gallery booth. Although we were familiar with his amazing stain glass installation pieces (see 2014, 2012), we were not aware of the versatility of the Brooklyn-based artist. On January 10th, Gallery 1988 (East) will be opening a solo show from Nicole Gustafsson featuring over 25 original paintings (and a few prints) illustrating some of her favorite video games, tv shows, and films of mostly the 80s and 90s. Along with a large installation piece as part of The Dean Collection at SCOPE Miami and an underwater art extravaganza at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel pool, Swoon (interviewed) also presented a new mural for her fans that made it out to Basel Week Miami.
