A couple weeks ago, the Morgan Lehman Gallery in New York welcomed Andrew Schoultz back for his third solo show there simply entitled New Work. Touching on geo-politcal issues through the metaphor of imagery derived from currency, ships, maelstroms, trojan horses, symbols of the illuminati and other common motifs seen in the Mission School artist’s repertoire, the new paintings were set off nicely with a background of bricks and overlapping water features on the walls.
