José Parlá, who recently finished a mural at the James B. Hunt Library at North Carolina State University, continues his work with institutes of higher learning with a new project in Porland. Working with students from Caldera Arts who participated in a painting and writing workshop the Brooklyn-based artist put on at the Portland Art Museum, a new large scale installation (8 feet tall by 70 feet) was created entitled Signature Roots. The title alludes to the students’ names and stories that were written into the layers of the mural which can be seen in lobby gallery of Wieden+Kennedy.
