Last weekend, a new collection of works from Jose Parla was unveiled at Brand New Gallery in Milan entitled Mirrors. The fresh pieces featured less prominent roles for the his signature script and instead had a more collage feel to them through the incorporation of parts of posters ripped off the walls of Milan, Rome, Napoli, Matera, Bari, Lecce and Bologna. These richly textured offerings from the Brooklyn-based artist reflect on his travels in Italy as well as pays homage to several artists including Mimmo Rotella, Isidore Isou, Tristan Tzara, and Burhan Dogancay.
