Openings: Miss Van & Jeremy Fish @ FIFTY24SF Gallery

Jeremy Fish’s “Ghost of the Barbary Coast” and Miss Van’s “Still a Little Magic” opened simultaneously tonight at FIFTY24SF Gallery. Check out the sick collaboration piece they did above.

Fish’s work for this show hearkens back to the gold rush days of San Francisco where gambling, prostitution, and crime were part of the seedy Barbary Coast area. His body of work fit this theme well with his mainly wood works and gold frames along with a “saloon” area. His popularity is steadily on the rise as evidenced by the long lines to enter his gallery area on the upper level.  Miss Van’s pieces for this show seemed to go with the circus theme. Seen were her famous “poupees” in various performance scenes and outfits.  We loved her choice of colors and the dynamic interactions between her characters and the animals.

Oh, I absolutely love Miss Van’s work. Is there a preview anywhere online of all the pieces in the show? I checked on the gallery’s site but I couldn’t find anything (but then, I might not have been looking in the correct place either).
