Although we have been enamored with Japanese artists for a while now, recently we have been increasingly interested in the Chinese art scene.  It seems more and more intriguing artists are popping up on various sites…  If you add to that, the fact that western artists seem to be showing more in Asia, the time seems ripe for the kind of crossover show that is opening this weekend in Seattle.

“This is China” (teased), put together by Red Star Press at the location formerly known as the BLVD gallery, opens on December 13th with works from their roster of artists (0528, Steel Dan, Soos, Cui Nan, Ha Shiyou, Zhang Qitian, Popil, Shen Jingdong, and Yang Jun) as well as a twist – collaborations between the Chinese and some non-Chinese urban/graffiti artists such as Pure Evil, Josh Keyes, SPQR and Miss Bugs. Seen above is a piece from Bast, not a collaboration but definitely influenced by theme of the show.
