When we first broke the news that Os Gemeos was doing the mural at the previous Keith Haring tribute location, we had also heard that it was going to take 11 days to finish the new project. After the 3rd day, the mural looked great and we thought it was going to be done that night. But day after day, we could see the twins from Sao Paulo working hard and building layer upon layer of detail into their labor of love. “So close, yet so far” would be the proper mindset as we realized that they were here for the long-haul. It was tough to wait it out, but finally we can tell you that the mural is OFFICIALLY finished!
AM stopped by to take some detailed pictures and hang out with the twins on a few different days during the creation of this mural. The brothers. Octavio and Gustavio were very gracious to allow us to shoot them while they were hard at work. They actually took the time in between work to chat with fans and create a few tags on some sketch books. As with the nature of every street mural, there are always local taggers looking to make their mark and halfway through, some jealous locals hit up a portion of the wall and defaced the beautiful mural. Understanding that this is the nature of the concrete jungle, the brothers enthusiastically went back to re-touch a portion of the mural and undid the random tags.
When news of Dash Snow’s passing broke, the brothers did a quick and dirty tag in remembrance of the New York artist. Upon the final day of the mural, the brothers repainted their tribute to Dash and officially dedicated the mural in honor of one of the son’s of NYC’s youth art movement.
Check out the progression and stunning details after the jump.
