Two big firsts are happening with artist Zhang Huan.  First, he is going to show solo at Culver City’s Blum & Poe for the first time.  Secondly, this will also be his first ever one-man exhibition in Los Angeles.  One of China’s preeminent artists today, Huan has worked in many different forms of art and media, including performance-based work, large-scale commissioned sculptures, painting and sculpture using incense ash, and has even reinterpreted an opera.  This time, the artist will be exhibiting brick sculptures and will take up both the first and second floors of the expansive gallery.  Opening May 21 at 6pm, it’s sure to be a outstandingly massive show and one that is going to be talked about for years to come.
