This Saturday night (October 20th, 7-10pm) at the Nucleus Gallery, Andrew Hem (interviewed), will be hosting a signing and special edition art exhibition for his new book – Dreams Towards Reality. Published by Zero+ Publishing, the monograph includes a survey of Hem’s recent paintings but also features “selections from his early work, graffiti, sketches, murals, sculptures and collages, as well as photographs from the extensive travel in Southeast Asia and South America that has informed his vision.” Also included is an in-depth essay by Amanda Erlanson.

Not only will the LA-based artist be on hand to greet fans, the event will also feature an exhibition of the original art created for the special editions, including 30 drawings as well an array of sculpture and small paintings. For those ready to splurge, the deluxe edition of 30 in a clothbound clamshell box includes an original drawing inside a clothbound portfolio. The limited box set edition of 10 is a handmade bamboo box laser-engraved with graffiti-inspired text interwoven with hand-painted characters, enclosing a deluxe clamshell edition and five pieces of original art (of which you can see above and in some of the photos below).
