During our stroll through the seemingly endless array of booths and artwork during Art Basel in Miami, we were stopped dead in our tracks by the solo from the late Jiro Takamatsu at McCaffrey Fine Art. The influential Japanese artist was known as a writer, sculptor, painter and printmaker with this showing focusing in on his famous shadow pieces. Although the booth was dominated by his large-scale portraiture, we were particularly drawn to his smaller works like the key shadows hanging from a hook as well as a dollhouse filled with shadows from objects that used to be there.
