Paris is having one of art’s modern masters as a guest forÂ the nextÂ few months. The Grand Palais hosts a show: “Warhol’s Wide World” from March 18th to July 13th. This amazing show revisits the cornerstone trademarks of Andy Warhol’s genius – Portraits. Over 150 portraits will be showcased in numerous mediums not just limited to paintings, screen prints, and polaroids. Openings: Ana Bagayan @ Billy Shire

Ana Bagayan presented new work at Billy Shire this past Saturday, March 14th. AM met up with Ana during the first hour of the opening reception. She took us through and showed us her new pieces, which include 9 paintings, 10 drawings and a numbered edition print. During Armory Week, there were a few things that caught our attention. One of the highlights of the Bridge Art Fair was British gallery Opus Art who traveled from the UK to show New York just what they have to offer. The ARMORY Art Show as it’s name implies, was literally a stockpile of the art world’s heavy artillery. With works from Damien Hirst, Yoshitomo Nara, Kara Walker, Kenny Scharf, Kehinde Wiley, Gilbert & George, Julian Opie, Marilyn Minters, Tom Sachs and many more, the stockade of high caliber art stretched the imagination. Last night, AM was fortunate enough to attend Brendan Monroe’s (interviewed) opening and book signing at the Park Life Store in San Francisco. Â Brendan, who is soft spoken, modest and rather inviting, cheerfully signed and doodled copies of his new book, b. monroe. “Natural Beauties” and “Superschool” (previewed) opened at Copro Gallery this past Saturday, March 7th. Upon entering Copro Gallery, you will see Lola’s solo show “Natural Beauties” on display in the room directly ahead. Critically acclaimed art star, Ryan McGinness, opened up his first solo show in three years at Dietch ProjectsÂ last weekend. The show was packed with people anxious see what his stunning new body of work looked like.Â Using images, icons, and contemporary signals/signs, Ryan’s complex works are created using an intricate silkscreening process. Last night AM attended the opening for Tomokazu Matsuyama’s (interviewed) “Glancing at Twin Peaks” (previewed) opening at Joshua Liner Gallery. The highly anticipated opening for Matzu’s NYC solo drew a packed house. Matzu’s distinctly unique pieces exhibited his signature contemporary flair on traditional subjects. This show continued his use of bold color palettes and contrasting “splashes” that make the pieces leap out at the audience.
