Preview: “Femme Fatale” @ Cella Gallery

On February 25th, Cella Gallery will present a group exhibition curated by Nicole Bruckman & Stephanie Chefas entitled Femme Fatale. Thematically, the show features work inspired by the female form including work from artists like Aaron Nagel, Aunia Kahn, Casey Weldon, Cate Rangel, Chris Peters, Christopher Umana, Chrystal Chan, Dave MacDowell, Jeff Ramirez, Jessica Ward, Ken Garduno, Korin Faught, Linnea Strid, Paul Chatem, Sarah Folkman, Stella Im Hultberg, and more. Openings: Aaron Nagel, Jeff Ramirez, and Jennifer Nehrbass @ Thinkspace

A couple weeks ago, the Thinkspace Gallery hosted a trio of artists known for their realistic renderings and a new perspective on portraiture. Aaron Nagel brought his edgy nudes, Jeff Ramirez presented some paintings from unique angles as well as some masked characters, and Jennifer Nehrbass contributed some of her narrative-based works. Openings: Aaron Nagel – “A Thin Line” @ Shooting Gallery

Saturday night in San Francisco, the Shooting Gallery hosted a new collection of paintings from Aaron Nagel. It has been over a year since Nagel’s photorealistic renderings have graced the walls of the Tenderloin district showspace, and he returns with A Thin Line, a classical study on the beauty of the female form with a contemporary twist. Thinkspace Gallery will be opening a new group exhibition this Saturday night, December 11th, highlighting some of their artists whose work utilize elements of  photorealism. “New Realism” will include pieces from Aaron Nagel, Jeff Ramirez, Jennifer Nehrbass, Linnea Strid, Nathan DeYoung and Pakayla Rae Biehn. After 7 years in business, San Francisco’s Shooting Gallery celebrated their anniversary with a stellar solo show by Oakland based artist Aaron Nagel this past weekend. Entitled “Marks” (previewed), Aaron’s show features a bounty of breast-baring buxoms, many of whom have been impaled by arrows, carefully combining a controversial mix of religious iconography and contemporary portraiture, certain to leave a mark on the viewer.
