As you have seen from our coverage, Richmond, Virginia just had a stellar cast of artists roll by for the G40 Art Summit. To follow that up, this weekend sees more murals in town for the RVA Street Art Festival with another sweet lineup of artists. Fresh off a summer that saw him exhibiting in the Portsmouth Museum of Art and causing a ruckus in the streets of New Hampshire, Bumblebee goes all out in a return to his hometown with these two recent pieces. The first is Passed Out, a mural painted by the artist at the shop’s request on the side of Sherman McNulty Frame Gallery in Hollywood. In yet another example of street art and graffiti’s acceptance and proliferation in fine art institutions across America, the Portsmouth Museum of Art hosts Street a.k.a. Museum, curated by LeBasse Projects’ Beau LeBasse. The exhibition, which opened on May 11 and runs until Sept. 11 features familiar names: Bumblebee, Herakut (fresh off their beautification of Los Angeles), Shark Toof, Alexandros Vasmoulakis, and Andreas von Chrzanowski. Last night, AM headed out to Culver City for the lone show on our schedule at LeBasse Projects. It was certainly worth the trip as we were greeted by work from a nice selection of artists in the Outside/In group show including Case, Herakut, Alexandros Vasmoulakis, SharkToof and Bumblebee. As a bonus, most of the participants were on hand before they head out to New Hampshire for the second part of the show at the Portsmouth Museum of Art. More opening pics after the jump…

This Saturday night, April 23rd, Outside/In opens at LeBasse Projects’ Culver City Gallery featuring a group of internationally-known street artists. The list includes Case, Herakut, Alexandros Vasmoulakis, Hush, SharkToof and Bumblebee and will continue on to the Portsmouth Museum of Art in New Hampshire with the opening there scheduled for May 11th. Beyond Eden ‘10: Bumblebee – “Bed Bugs” @ Carmichael Gallery

We at AM have been following Bumblebee’s work for a long time now and are now happy to provide coverage of his first ever solo exhibition. The buzzing and buzzed-about artist treated the Beyond Eden crowd to imagery of bees, children, environmental awareness and the joys of childhood, in an installation and collection of works that included sculpture and paintings. The colorful show was one of the top highlights of the entire fair and we are happy to hear that it completely sold out. See [...]
