Curated by Tilt, the second edition of the Rose Beton Festival in Toulouse (FR) paid tribute to the graffiti scene. The festival kicked off with an exhibition at Chateau d’Eau featuring the iconic photographs by Martha Cooper & Henry Chalfont (interviewed) as well as emerging photographer Sylvain Fargot. The Musee des Abattoirs is then taken over with installations by Boris Tellegen (covered), Mist, and Craig Costello while Tilt brought back his Voyage Retour car installation that he created during his recent residency at Jardin Rouge in Marrakech. Last weekend, Library Street Collective in Detroit hosting the opening for Futura latest solo show entitled NEW HORIZONS. Along with all new paintings that features some of the graffiti legend’s signature abstract color studies with gyroscopic structures as well as his old school pointman characters, new large-scale pieces were prepared for the outdoor space in BELT Alley for the PUBLIC MATTER series of works. Coming up on June 18th, Library Street Collective in Detroit will be opening up a solo show by graffiti legend Futura. Yesterday, Tristan Eaton revealed a project he has been working on getting started for the past five years – a plan to paint the Red Sands Sea Forts off the coast of the UK along with Shepard Fairey, Futura, How & Nosm, and The London Police. Starting next month, the Futura Chuck Taylor All Star II collection from Converse will be releasing at specialty retailers, Converse stores and online at Converse.com. This project with the NY graffiti legend will be the first artist collaboration with the redesigned Chuck Taylor All Star from the American shoe company.
