Openings: “Charismatic Megafauna” @ Roq La Rue

Charismatic Megafauna opened at Roq La Rue earlier this month to a packed house. Celebrating the vast diversity of the animal kingdom, the exhibition features a wide variety of creatures, some recognizable, while others are not from this world. That diversity extends itself to the artists included in the show with a plethora of styles and mediums on display, from traditional paintings, life sized creations, and even a mesmerizing illuminated wall-hung sculpture. On Thursday night (December 3rd), Roq La Rue will be opening a new group show entitled Charismatic Megafauna. Artists Adam Doyle, Brad Woodfin, Camille Rose Garcia, Chris Berens, Femke Hiemstra, Jacub Gagnon, Jean Pierre Arboleda, Jessica Joslin (seen above), Joey Bates, Josh Keyes, Josie Morway, Justin Beckman, Laurie Hogin, Lindsey Carr, Michael Alm, Peter Ferguson, Peter Gronquist, and Scott Musgrove were asked to contribute a piece that focuses on some of the world’s largest and most spectacular species, and even what appear to be some mythical ones.

Openings: “Unnatural – Natural History” @ Royal West of England Academy

Curated by Coates and Scarry, the  exhibition entitled Unnatural-Natural History recently launched at the Royal West of England Academy with many of the participating artists present at the opening. Featuring paintings, photography, drawings, sculptures and installations, 38 local and international artists are currently displaying their artistic interpretation of an alternative world. Preview: “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” @ Copro Gallery

As a followup to a similarly themed show last year, the Copro Gallery will be hosting Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me next Saturday, April 21st.
