Openings: “Blab!” @ Copro Gallery

With new exhibitions rolling in this weekend at Copro Gallery, we thought we would share some last minute photos we took of the Blab! show that has been running for the last month. The seventh annual show which was also a preview of artwork for the upcoming volumes of BLABWORLD No. 2 and 3, featured artwork from artists like Jana Brike, Gary Baseman, Joe Sorren, SHAG, Chet Zar, Sas Christian, and more. Openings: “Made In Polaroid” @ Phillips de Pury

AM recently attended the star studded charity art show Made In Polaroid held at Phillips de Pury. The benefit was a one night auction that featured 50 works created by the 50-50-50 project using Polaroid’s mobile printer. All proceeds went to support Free Arts NYC. Previews: Joe Sorren – “In A Garden Where” @ Dorothy Circus

Dorothy Circus definitely picked the right artist for their 5th anniversary show in Joe Sorren (featured). The Flagstaff-based artist will be present five new luminous paintings collectively entitled In A Garden Where, with the public opening set for October 8th in Rome. Joe will be in town to greet his fans as well as sign his new book, so here is your chance to meet the renowned painter in person if you are local. More preview images after the jump…

Preview: “Blab!” @ Copro Gallery

With a plethora of great shows opening in Los Angeles this weekend, not to mention the world, there is no way we can write about everything unfortunately (you can always join our forum for a more extensive calendar). Another gallery you should add to your list is the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica as they will be hosting seventh annual BLAB! SHOW, previewing artwork from the upcoming volumes of BLABWORLD No. 2 and 3.

Streets: Joe Sorren

It looks like gifted painter Joe Sorren’s (featured) has painted another wall in his home city (see the previous The Veridic Gardens of Effie Leroux), this time in collaboration with Lyle Motley. Update: Joe Sorren

Even though his epic exhibition Interruption at the GCAC (covered) is still showing, Joe Sorren (featured) is already back to work doing what he does best – painting.  This new commission piece that he recently finished is a piece for a friend and fellow band member. We look forward to seeing what is in store for Joe in 2011 including an animation project and a show in Italy at Dorothy Circus in October. Discuss Joe Sorren here.
