Preview: “Cat Art Show 2” @ Think Tank Gallery

From March 24-27, shortly after closing their cake-themed installation and special programing (covered), Think Tank Gallery in Los Angeles will be hosting the sequel group exhibition to 2014’s Cat Art Show. Over 70 artists including Mark Ryden, Marion Peck, C215, Adam Wallacavage, Tim Biskup, Kozyndan, Luke Chueh, Brandi Milne, Natalia Fabia, Travis Lampe, Cyrcle., Jean Pierre Arboleda (seen above) and Edwin Ushiro will be contributing pieces inspired by their feline friends. Releases: Kozyndan // Pangeaseed – “Celestial Bodies” Print

Continuing their partnership with Pangeaseed, artistic duo Kozyndan recently released a new print entitled Celestial Bodies. Their love for the oceans is well known, so this this whimsical piece revisiting their riff on the narwhal is a perfect project to collaborate on with the for-benefit company trying to help to save the seas through ocean-inspired art. POW! WOW! Hawaii ’16 / Previews: “Exploring The New Contemporary Movement” @ Honolulu Museum of Art School

Tomorrow (February 7th) will mark the third time Thinkspace has curated a show in association with POW! WOW! Hawaii at the Honolulu Museum of Art School (see 2015 & 2014). Releases: Kozyndan – “Captives: Orcas and Pandas” Print

Later today, Kozyndan will be releasing a new print from their webstore entitled Captives: Orcas and Pandas. The new image is the third in their Animal OddCouples series of works where they pair two animals that struggle due to human activity around the world. They may be different species, but their struggle for survival is that same against mankind’s aggression and carelessness. The edition size will be 150 and the prints come signed and numbered with a portion of the proceeds going to the Orca Research Trust. […]

Tomorrow night (April 17th), the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts will be opening a new show – Samurai! As you can probably deduce from the title, warriors from the medieval and early-modern Japan will be theme of the exhibition. Openings: “SuperAwesome: Art and Giant Robot” @ Oakland Museum of California

Last weekend, the Oakland Museum of California opened a new exhibition, entitled SuperAwesome: Art and Giant Robot, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the art and culture magazine Giant Robot. Along with a diverse selection of GR branded paraphenalia and publications, artists who have been involved with them over the years contributed original artwork as well as some wall murals.
