After stopping by to check in on the progress of the joint mural between Jeff Soto (interviewed) and Maxx242 in Riverside, we dropped by a couple days ago to see the finished two-wall piece. The long time friends, collaborators (see Berlin & Luxembourg), and artists who have spent most of their lives in the area hope that this new mural will be the beginning of a new renaissance for public art in this part of Southern California. Head over to University and Lemon yourself for a look if you are close by. Discuss Jeff […]
Like they have in the past (see Berlin & Luxembourg), Jeff Soto (interviewed) and Maxx242 are collaborating on a new mural in Riverside, California. The two friends and former studio mates go way back, even painting a wall together 25 years ago. A year in the making, the two are finally able to go big again in their hometown. Head over to University and Lemon if you are in the area to see them complete their joint effort later today. Discuss Jeff Soto here.
This Saturday, November 9th, the Bunsen Goetz Gallery in Nuremberg, Germany will be hosting a two person show from Jeff Soto (interviewed) and Maxx242. Jeff Soto (interviewed) has sent over a final photo of the mural (see Part I) he was working on with Maxx242 while they were in town for a presentation at Pictoplasma. The two decided on an owl, skull, and octopus themed piece for Berlin as well as some other miscellaneous action around town. Take a look at the photos below as well as some footage of the main mural. Discuss Jeff Soto here.
It looks like Jeff Soto (interviewed) is scratching his street art itch again (see Hawaii) with a new mural in Berlin, this time with his friend Maxx242. Bringing back the reoccurring owl that is seen in his work (like last year in Richmond), Soto will be combining his skills with his fellow Riverside-based artist friend Maxx242. The two are in town for Pictoplasma, which starts Saturday (April 13th) – so stop by if you are in town to hear them speak. Discuss Jeff Soto here.
Whether the artists were participating on the legal walls like Primary Flight, Wynwood Walls, Graffiti Gone Global, or just freelancing it, there were certainly many new pieces thrown up for this year’s Art Basel Week Miami. You have already seen us focus in on some work from Ron English, Shepard Fairey, Gaia and Jeff Soto, but check more work in Part I of our overview of the murals. Pics we gathered after the jump…
