Streets: World Roundup (Dec 24 – Dec 30)

Another week, another selection of great public art from around the world. This week’s Streets World Roundup, the last of 2012, is headlined by a new piece from Martin Ron (in collaboration with Frederico Ron) entitled Lujuan Pedro and His Dog (source). The mural was painted for the Meeting of Styles event in Buenos Aires, held in the Barracas district. Streets: World Roundup (May 7 – May 13)

For our summary of walls this week, we have for you as our featured wall – REYES in Detroit. The motor city has become one of the hotspots for street activity recently as the tanking economy has ironically led to more abandoned buildings facilitating the rise of public art. Streets: ROA, Hyuro, Mentalgassi, Moneyless – Katowice Street Art Festival (Poland)

As the work continues to go up in Katowice, Poland for a local street art festival, more photos are continuing to hit the interwebs. Besides photos from Olek, Ludo, Mark Jenkins, and Escif, other muralists have hit the streets with their distinctive work including ROA, Hyuro, Mentalgassi, Moneyless.

Streets: Mentalgassi for Getxo Photo 2011 (Spain)

For this fifth edition of the festival dedicated to photography, GETXOPHOTO, that takes place in Spain, Berlin collective Mentalgassi decided to create four spherical portraits and float them in the sea. Known for creatively wheatpasting over existing urban objects, this time they decided to take control of the entire process to produce these “elderly swimmers.” Take a look at more photos as well as video from Fermin Aio and Aitor Gisasola after the jump…
