This past Thursday, Post No Bills gallery held their second gallery exhibit which featured works by the likes of Anthony Micallef, Conor Harrington, Ian Francis, Jonathan Yeo, JR, Mode 2, Paul Insect, Stanley Donwood, Vhils and Zevs. Titled as the European Bailout Show, this exhibition focused entirely on some of Europe’s most interesting artists working today. Today in Modena, Italy, Gallerie Civica is hosting the opening of KINDERGARTEN, a group show featuring the talents of Tom Sachs, Futura, Mode 2, Os Gemeos, Kostas Seremetis and Delta. It looks like each of the artists have taken time to bring some sculptural works and installations to the space, leading to a dramatic setting – one that should be enjoyable for “children” of all ages. It appears that the preparations for Lazarides’ group show “Grifters” is already in full swing (teased). With most of the works already arriving inside the gallery, the artists got busy around the streets of London. Our friend Ian Cox went on an urban expedition with all the artists from this amazing group show including: David Choe, Vhils, Invader, Mode 2 among others for some in-progress photos of their outdoor work. Who can take a stack of hard cardboard or a cold brick wall and create aÂ sensually hypnotic work of art? Mode 2 can. The artist known for his erotic urban techniques opened “Reality, Fantasy, And The Web” (previewed) at Lazarides last weekend. For a show that was created completely on location in the Newcastle gallery, it’s fascinating how Mode 2 was able to work with the gritty surroundings he was given and transform it into visually arresting and erotic snapshots. Lazarides will be opening a show tonight, August 21st, at their Newcastle location, featuring influential street artist Mode 2.Â Returning to the UK from a “self-exile” in Paris, he will be exhibiting new paintings and installations, as well as a selection of sketches on display on ground floor of the gallery.Â Judging from these preview images from Ian Cox, it’s shaping up to be a pretty good show.Â More images after the jump…
