One of the venues jam-packed with goodness during Basel Week Miami was the Juxtapoz Clubhouse, a special project in conjunction between the magazine and Mana Urban Arts Project. The immersive artist retreat and exhibition space in the Wynwood District features collaborations with different artists, galleries and creatives. Currently displayed prominently in front of the Honolulu Museum of Art and sponsored by Anthropologie is the latest evidence of Olek’s crocheting prowess. The iconic outrigger canoe utilized by the Hawaiian people was transformed by the New York-based Polish artist with her signature technique for POW! WOW! Hawaii (more coverage here). Tonight in New York, the Tribeca Grand Hotel will be ringing in the New Year’s with a Popaganda Artist Ball. One of the highlights for fans will be this sculptural collaboration between Ron English (featured) who recently unveiled a solo himself (covered) at the hotel and Olek. Featuring one of English’s recognizable characters sitting astride a dinosaur covered in Olek’s signature crochet, look for attendees to take plenty of photos of this joint creation. Last week, we brought you a look at some artists prepping for their window installations for the M/6 phase (curated by Jonathan LeVine) of the ongoing art program for Urban Nation. We now have some in situ pics of the pieces for you to enjoy. Along with the windows from Dan Witz, Jeff Soto, Nychos, Olek and Saner, artists Alo, ONUR & WES21 and CANVAZ were seen putting up their work in Berlin. Urban Nation recently kicked off the next phase of their ongoing art program with a new roster of artists curated by Jonathan LeVine Gallery. One aspect of the event features artists who create window installations in Berlin and the ones invited this time did just that.
