Upcoming: Andrew Schoultz Handpainted Skateboard Show @ Uprise

This Saturday (Jan 4th, 7-10pm) in Chicago, Andrew Schoultz will be opening a special show featuring hand-painted skateboards. Held at Uprise Skateboard Shop, the 10 custom decks sound like they will be priced very reasonably at $300-$500 with the proceeds going to benefit After School Matters, a non-profit organization that offers local high school teens innovative out-of-school activities. Openings: Haroshi – “Virtual Reality” @ Jonathan LeVine

This past weekend, Japanese artist Haroshi debuted a new body of works at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled Virtual Reality, this exhibition is the second in the Big Apple by the sculptor known for utilizing used skate decks as his source material. It seems like even KAWS and his 4-foot companions can’t stay away from these wooden gems. A few weeks ago we reported about the latest Damien Hirst “Artist Series” skate decks being releasing by Supreme. They go on sale today, 4/2, both online and at Supreme stores in Los Angeles and New York. Locations in Japan will have their release on Saturday, 4/4. Clayton Brothers’ special limited edition decks

Brilliant artists The Clayton Brothers recently collaborated as guest designers with Mark Gonzalez’s Krooked Skateboards to produce a limited edition set of two skateboards, entitled Any Given Night. And while the limited edition decks are on sale at various skate shops, The Clayton Brothers reserved 25 of each deck to customize as unique pieces. These special limited edition sets include both boards, each individually signed and hand-stenciled, as well as custom wall-mounting bracket, mounting hardware and a certificate of authenticity.
