The Hole gallery in New York continues it’s run of great shows. This one is a group exhibition titled Extraction and it’s focus on new approaches in abstract painting. This showcase features an expansive list of artists such as Ara Peterson, Chris Johanson, Cory Arcangel, Gerhard Richter, Kadar Brock, Mark Flood, Peter Sutherland, Sam Moyer, Wade Guyton, Xylor Jane to name a few and aims to show how this current generation of artists’ take on conveying the non-figurative. The Hole Gallery continues to push the edge as their latest collaborative project between E.V. Day and Kembra Pfahler opened up this past Friday to a packed house. The title GIVERNY references impressionist legend Claude Monet’s estate located in Giverny, where E.V. Day stayed during her Munn Artist Residency. Inspired by the lily padded ponds located on the estate, E.V. invited Pfahler to the actual garden to shoot the photos in this exhibition. Openings: “Art Machine” @ The Hole Gallery & ALIFE

AM got a chance to attend the opening of Art Machine at The Hole recently. The collaboration between the gallery and NY fashion collective ALIFE featured a special vending machine where artwork could be purchased and dispensed. We got there before the public was allowed in and watched the final “stocking” of the goods. “Art Machine” @ The Hole Gallery & ALIFE

This Thursday, The Hole Gallery will host a brand new type of exhibition. Collaborating with NY’s fashion collective ALIFE, they’ll be showcasing art & items from various artists in a unique manner. Through the use of  vending Art Machines, attendees can purchase what they see via a credit card. Items will include mini paintings, sculptures, bearbricks, and G-Shock watches/apparel. For as little as $5 dollars for something cool, you should plan on getting there early as sales are first come first serve.
