Openings: “Suggestivism : Resonance” @ Spoke Art

Last Thursday, Spoke Art in San Francisco held the opening reception for the latest edition of  Suggestivism exhibitions curated by Nathan Spoor. Like previous group shows in Orange County (2011) and Rome (2013) and Los Angeles (2014), Spoor put together a stellar list of artists. Tonight at Krab Jab Studios in Seattle, a gallery specializing in the publication arts, group show Dream Covers will open. Tomorrow (February 7th) will mark the third time Thinkspace has curated a show in association with POW! WOW! Hawaii at the Honolulu Museum of Art School (see 2015 & 2014). Tran Nguyen Smithsonian Magazine Cover

Tran Nguyen, whose work we last enjoyed in person up in Seattle (covered), recently worked on a cover for Smithsonian Magazine. The current issue, which we took a snap of at our local Barnes & Noble, features the artist’s illustration for the story of the fall and rise and fall of Pompeii, referencing the fact of how the archeological treasures are falling into a state of scandalous decline. Last weekend in Los Angeles, alongside Robert Williams’ amazing new exhibition (covered), a group show celebrating 20 years of Juxtapoz also opened to the public.
