WK Interact for Wired Magazine

Last week we shared with you some hardcore works that WK Interact put up in Paris in conjunction with the “Occupy Movements” occurring around the globe. Now we can show you the “would have been” cover for this month’s Wired Magazine. Unfortunately, WK informed us that Wired change their minds on the cover, but the good news is that this artwork and more by the NY-based artist are still displayed inside a “Riot” spread in the magazine. So go out to your newsstand and cop a [...]

Basel Week Miami ’11: Jonathan LeVine @ Scope

Taking a closer look at this year’s Scope art fair, we zoom in on New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery. They brought some old and some new to show Miami where they’ve come from and some of the new talent that’s coming down the pipeline. We caught WK Interact and Olek presenting fresh works alongside newcomers to the gallery such as Jason DeCaires Taylor and Aakash Nihalani with their thought provoking installations/photography. Check it out after the jump.

Streets: WK Interact – WK Riot (Paris)

Since we last caught up with WK Interact in September for the Project Brave (covered) in New York, we haven’t heard much from the street specialist. But recently, he took some time to update his outdoor pieces from a year ago in Paris with some work in a similar vein. Inspired by the NYC “Occupy” movement that has spread across the globe, the New York-based artist revisited areas such as Bastille Station to lay down some unique imagery in support – notice the riot gear such [...]

AM photographer Joe Russo was on scene to document the install with the full photoset after the jump.  [...]

Streets: WK Interact (Paris)

It looks like Paris recently received a hefty dose of WK Interact and also may have gotten a glimpse at a different side of the NY-based artist. The bondage-inspired works were considerably smaller than the huge mural WK just completed in Mexico (covered), but nevertheless, still made a strong impact on the City of Lights. More images after the jump…

Opening & Closing: The Hole’s “RE:FORM School” Charity Exhibit

A couple weekends ago, The Hole in conjunction with non-profit organization Redu called upon a diverse collection of artists to help shine a much needed light on the increasingly strained American school systems by donating their talents to raise money for educational reform. Openings: “Beyond the Street” NY Book Launch @ Deitch Projects

Imagine the days of high school where it’s the last week of school before summer hits and everyone is saying their goodbyes while signing each other’s yearbooks. That was the scene as AM attended the last public event at the legendary Deitch Projects and as expected, it was a blast! Set to the background of Shepard Fairey’s intense “May Day” exhibition, the book launch for Gestalten’s “Beyond the Street: The 100 Leading Figures in Urban Art”, by Patrick Nguyen and Stuart Mackenzie, drew a veritable [...]
