Camille Rose Garcia x “Alice in Wonderland” Book

We thought we would share some images of an illustrated “Alice in Wonderland” book that Camille Rose Garcia is working on with Harper/Collins. We can’t wait to see the signature twists she introduces into this project – who wants to see her Mad Hatter, raise your hand! She must be busy at the moment as she’s also prepping for her solo at Merry Karnowsky (teased) come September. Look for more opportunities to meet Camille as there should be an associated signing tour tentatively scheduled around […]

Streets: Aiko

Looks like last weekend in Brooklyn, Aiko put up a mural at the Williamsburg Music Center on Bedford Ave & South 5th.  Some of the classic imagery that was on display at her last solo at Joshua Liner Gallery was replicated nicely at this busy location.  Check out more of the images she posted up on her blog after the jump…

Releases: KAWS Gray 4FT Dissected Companion

AM has just received information on the release of KAWS‘ Gray 4FT Dissected Companion, the second in his series of towering, anatomically exposed vinyl creations. Not for the faint of heart or the spatially deprived, these monsters will be set loose at the end of the month to those lucky few OriginalFake account holders. Much like the original Brown version, this monochromatic colorway will most likely be in an edition of 100 and retail for approximately $6000US. No word yet on an unlikely official kawsone.com […]

Openings: “Beach Blanket Bingo” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

AM recently attended the festive opening of Jonathan LeVine Gallery’s summer group show, entitled Beach Blanket Bingo. Chilling and chatting by the inflatable palm oases with a cold Pabst Blue Ribbon was a fun way to appreciate works by the over thirty participating artists, including Matt Haber, Seonna Hong, Elbow Toe, Richard Colman and Ron English. Check out the images after the jump for a selection of our favorites.

Openings & Interviews: Chris Stain & Armsrock – “I Know There Is Love” @ Ad Hoc Art

Last Friday, Chris Stain and Armsrock opened their two-person solo show “I Know There Is Love” at Ad Hoc Art. Their unique individual explorations of the hope and dignity found in everyday urban life while still maintaining the undertones of its challenges and despair paired together very nicely. AM had a chance to interview with both Chris and Armsrock, in which they talk about how their individual bodies of work interact with one another, the inspiration for the show and more. Read the full interview […]

Walrus TV: D*Face Interview

Walrus TV has released another excellent video recently.  This time, they feature a revealing interview with D*Face, where he talks about how it all started for him.  Haven’t seen a large body of work from him in a while since his Black Rat Press show and Hong Kong show last year, so this video will have to tide you over until his next solo in September at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Discuss D*Face here.
