This Saturday, July 10, Carmichael Gallery in Culver City opens a show of photographs by international photographer and Brooklyn resident Boogie. The artist, who was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, started his photographic career by documenting rebellion and civil unrest during the civil war in his native land. He has taken that experience and applied it to provide honest portrayals of the streets and fringes of society, including gangsters, prostitutes, and junkies. “The Uncovering” involves the narrative space between endings and new beginnings and is more of a personal reflection than previous bodies of work.

More after the jump…

Boogie has shot for well-regarded clients and publications, such as Time Magazine, The New York Times, Playboy, and Rolling Stone. He has published 5 monographs and has shown in global cities like Paris, Tokyo, Istanbul, and New York. His Los Angeles show at Carmichael Gallery runs July 10 to August 7.
