Long-time Blum & Poe artist Dirk Skreber makes his long-awaited return to the distinguished Los Angeles gallery. This is his fourth solo exhibition at the Culver City institution. The show features portraits of models created with foam tape laid above panels rolled with varnish, polyurethane, watercolor, enamel, spray paint, fluorescent paint and primer. The artist burns or tears away the foam to reveal each image. Conspicuously absent in the paintings is oil paint or any kind of brushwork, giving the works a sense of psychological detachment. Visit the show before it ends Oct. 30.
