A couple weeks ago, Brian Viveros’ “The Dirtyland” exhibition opened at the Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City. The immersive exhibition featured paintings, drawings, one-off hand-finished prints, installations, sculptural work (with the help of Gustavo Ponce), and video from the Riverside based artist all inspired by his fascination with Hispanic culture in general (bull-fighting, day of the dead, luchadores, etc) and of course, nicotine. When we visited his studio before the show, Brian was really excited to have a large space all to himself to fully express himself, which we think turned out spectacularly.
