SHAG’s epic show at Corey Helford Gallery opened to a packed house last weekend in the Culver City arts district. Parties, good food, drinks aplenty, music, beautiful people, immaculate modern homes with mid-century furniture – in general, the hedonistic lifestyle of suburbia have always been the mainstay of SHAG’s paintings. As we mentioned in the preview, his work takes a more somber turn as he seems to have grown tired consumerism and decadent focus of his characters and in his own life.
However, this turn of events doesn’t make his work any less impressive – especially when seeing the large meticulously painted compositions hanging from the ceiling and walls. Check out all the images after the jump…
