If Tom Fruin’s Watertower installation in Brooklyn is any indication, having artwork tower over art lovers in New York can make the cityscape a lot more interesting. Something that might do just that (as evidenced by these mock-up photos) is the proposed Water Tank Project, except instead of a new structure, existing water tanks (twelve feet high, thirteen feet in diameter) in NYC will be used as canvases for public art. Scheduled for the Summer of 2013, artwork from artists and notables like Jeff Koons, Ed Ruscha, Jose Parla, Catherine Opie, Andy Goldsworthy, Jay- Z, Ellen Gallagher, Lawrence Weiner, Devendra Banhart, Bruce Weber, and many more may soon be seen on a building near you. You can support this project by going to the Kickstarter page here.
