On Saturday night, the Merry Karnowsky Gallery welcomed in Victor Castillo for his new solo show entitled Under Heavy Measures. The new body of work included pieces on paper and canvas, sketches, and some sculptures that look like they came straight out of his paintings including the LA-based artist’s signature red sausage noses (see video). Attendees were treated to vivid and troubled imagery juxtaposing the innocence of children and an illustrative style with dark subject matter fraught with ominous creatures, political overtones, and violence.
