A couple weeks ago, AM stopped by the Jonathan LeVine Gallery to check out new works from AJ Fosik collectively entitled Against The Infinite. Inspired by The Denial of Death, a 1973 Pulitzer Prize-winning work of psychology and philosophy by Ernest Becker, the new sculptural works explore the idea that humanity has an “inherent struggle between its dualistic nature—a physical self and a symbolic self.” Along with free-standing works, there is also an installation piece from the Portland-based artist that is comprised of 30 individual animal faces that when combined form a rhombic triacontahedron (seen above).
