Last month, the Joshua Liner Gallery in Chelsea presented all new works from Yokohama-based artist Riusuke Fukahori in his New York solo debut. The self-described goldfish fanatic keeps many of them around his studio for inspiration as well as considers them a metaphor for his life. Utilizing a resin technique that took over 8 years to perfect, the layered pieces almost look too real to be paintings, especially when presented in containers that are often associated with the fish in real life.
