Upcoming: D*Face Show & Book Release @ Stephen Webster (Beverly Hills)

On February 5th (5-8pm), Stephen Webster’s Beverly Hills flagship boutique and gallery will be hosting a new show from D*Face (interviewed) as well as a book signing. For the US launch of The Art of D*Face: One Man and His Dog, the UK-based street artist will be releasing the standard edition of the monograph as well as a limited edition box set (edition of 50) which will include a six color screen print. Openings: Bill McRight – “Willing To Lose” @ Breeze Block Gallery

Last week, Bill McRight (interviewed) opened up a show alongside Alex Lukas (interviewed) and his post-apocalyptal imagery at the Breeze Block Gallery in Portland. Entitled Willing To Lose, the new body of work from McRight consisted of his signature home-made shanks and other weaponry as well as some skull-based engraved mirrors. Currently, street muralist Ernest Zacharevic is in Malaysia prepping for his show, Art Is Rubbish Is Art, opening later this week (January 17th) at the Hin Company Bus Depot, a now disused building along Brick Kiln Road, in George Town, Penang. Openings: Saber – “The Ugly American” @ The Outsiders (London)

After Newcastle, LA-based graffiti artist SABER (interviewed) launched the second installment of his first European solo show The Ugly American at The Outsiders in London. Suffering from epilepsy and being denied healthcare, the politically engaged artist decided to voice some issues and battles for universal care by attacking and transforming iconic images of US and Union Jack flags, using found packing crates. Saber’s abstract paintings, made with layered collages and painted paper, combine harmoniously to form a delicate texture with his strong and powerful sharp signature lines. Showing: Johnson Tang – “Living Clay” @ Yingge Ceramics Museum

Currently on view through January 19th in Taiwan is an exhibition featuring the surreal sculptures of Johnson Tsang. Entitled Living Clay, the exhibition sees the Hong Kong-based ceramic artist present a full repertoire of works at the Yingge Ceramics Museum including his whimsical takes on functional objects with characters in fluid play with the forms. Along with these fun pieces, Tsang also tackles social political issues like war, violence, and the influence of media in our children. Take a look at more photos below… Via Colassal.

Spanish artist Escif recently did a whole series of new street murals titled Fast Food Is Not a Crime on the streets of his hometown, Valencia.
