Over the weekend, art fans in Los Angeles saw the return of Kazuki Takamatsu and his gradient map textured portaiture in a new show entitled Spiral of Emotions. Exhibiting at CHG Circa (see 2013 at the sister gallery), the Japanese artist brought with him a new set of glowing paintings featuring ghostly silhouettes of children and adolescents, often intermingled with symbols of death and violence. This apparent contradiction between innocence and darker elements gives the work an added layer of complexity.
These paintings are best viewed in person because of the unique combination of digital and traditional techniques of mark making, so head over before the close date of July 12th if you have a chance.
