Earlier this month, Roq la Rue hosted it’s first opening of 2016 with Jonathan Viner’s Strange Math.  This marks a new less-is-more approach for the Seattle gallery, focusing on one artist a month, with a couple group exhibitions during the year. The show from the Brooklyn-based artist provided a great start to the new year with the large paintings filling the main floor of the gallery. Bright neon-like colors have infiltrated Viner’s usual muted color pallet, giving the paintings their own glow.  Provocative subject matter and vintage room decor bring life to scenes that would feel right at home in a 70’s or 80’s glamour mag.

Jonathan Viner’s Strange Math will be on display until February 27th.
