Tomorrow night (September 15th) in New York, Daniel Arsham will be opening a show at Galerie Perrotin entitled Circa 2345. The exhibition will be the locally-based artist’s 11th solo with the gallery, but his first in their NYC branch. As the title suggests, he will be continuing his signature brand of “fictional archeology” where current day objects are created in the way that future generations would see them when they unearth them. In this new body of work, Arsham has added colors to his normal black & white pieces as he recently had a dramatic change of vision when his colorblindness was corrected. The most striking new creation takes advantage of the color purple and looks to be an amethyst crystal cavern installation, something the sculptor has wanted to create for the last 17 years.
