On September 28th, Quint Gallery in La Jolla will be opening a show from Kelsey Brookes entitled Fibonacci, Waveforms, and Capsid Symmetries. Continuing to draw from his scientific background as former biochemist for inspiration, the locally-used artist has found a novel way to present his geometric and patterned imagery by applying them to sculptural surfaces. Working in particular with the Fibonacci sequence and viral structures with this new body of work, these psychedelic wall mounted and free standing sculptures from Brookes have been in the works for most of this year.
