For an exhibition opening in Chicago on September 26th, Jonas Wood will be focusing in on subject matter he has worked on the past that draws from his experience as a sports fan. Entitled Tennis Court Drawings, the new body of work to be displayed at Shane Campbell Gallery will consist entirely of 24 renderings of famous tennis courts. Using photos taken on his phone as reference while watching the tennis matches on TV, Wood has created four sets of drawings representing the Grand Slam tournaments which can distinguished in part by his choice of palette (ie: the red brick dust at Roland-Garros and the blue Plexicushion acrylic at Melbourne Park) among other visual cues. Joining the drawings of these majors will be two other sets of works representing various other tennis tournaments around the world.
