Previews: Super A – “Domestication” @ The Brand Library and Arts Center

Tomorrow (November 3rd), as part of a series of solos and group shows put on by Thinkspace at Glendale’s Brand Library & Arts Center, Stefan Thelen aka Super A will be presenting a selection of new paintings from his Trapped series. Entitled Domestication, the new body of work sees the Dutch artist continue to deconstruct cartoon, fairytale, or pop cultural archetypes by cleverly peeling away the surface while revealing the realistic version of the character inside. Last weekend in Copenhagen, Eighteen Gallery hosted the the opening of another great show – Geoff McFetridge’s Coming Back Is Half The Trip. The Los Angeles-based illustrator, designer and artist’s instantly recognizable distillation of the human form into basic shapes and colors once again takes center stage for this exhibition, work that takes inspiration from daily routines and patterns. Previews: Jean Jullien – “GIB” @ Arsham/Fieg Gallery

Tonight at the Arsham/Fieg Gallery inside KITH’s SoHo store in New York City, Jean Jullien will be presenting a solo with an interesting concept. For this showing, the celebrated French graphic designer and illustrator will be displaying miniature paintings alongside appropriately sized sculptures and 3D models of Daniel Arsham and Ronnie Fieg leading to an optical illusion, especially when seen in photos. GIB which is “BIG” spelled backwards, will be on display through November 18. Via Hypebeast.

Releases: Ernest Zacharevic – “Rage Against The Machine” Print

Starting tomorrow, Ernest Zacharevic will be releasing one of his most iconic images as a timed edition print. Rage Against The Machine was an installation created on the streets of Kuala Lumpur back in 2015 and features many of the elements from the Lithuanian-born artist that we enjoy – the loss of innocence seen when children are placed in unexpected situations, the dimensional aspects of his installations, and the way he uses his art to highlight issues important to him.
