Spanish-born, German-raised and New York City based identical twin brothers How & Nosm (Raoul and Davide Perre), have been spending most of the last three months doing a residency at Watanabe Press in Brooklyn, working on big project with Pace Prints. During this period, they created a new series of hand painted mono silkscreens for a show that’s scheduled for spring 2014.
By using their recognizable red, black and white color palette, with a small touch of pink, the brothers created heavily hand-painted works on paper that mix screenprinting, hand-painting and stencils. The duo insisted on adding acrylic and especially spray painted details, in order to lose the machine printed feel from their work. These pieces feature all the recognizable How and Nosm elements – from geometrical, abstract and graffiti influenced characters, to familiar symbols and patterns that add that familiar depth to their work. Being fully involved in every step of the production, from rough sketches to pulling the colors on the screen and hand painting, these impressive 30×40 inches paper works are basically all originals.
The artists and Pace Prints will be giving a sneak peek at this body of work by introducing the first four pieces at the Pace Prints booth (#207) at the IFPDA Print Fair in NYC from November 6-10, 2013, and than few more at Art Basel Miami in December.
